The 2024 Philadelphia Independence Awards were held on May 20th at the Temple University Performing Arts Center in Philadelphia. The program recognizes local high school musical theater productions with over 20 awards in performing and non-performing categories.
Plymouth Whitemarsh High School’s Colonial Players’ were nominated in 11 categories for its production of The Little Mermaid. Nominations included Small Ensemble (AJ DelGrego & Rosie Ounsworth), Sound, Stage Management, Props and Effects, Makeup, Marketing & Publicity, Scenic Design, and Creative Leadership (Leena Krayyem, Chloe Markus, Paige Sarro, and Avery Wrobel).
The Colonial Players’ won three awards for Best Costumes, Best Creative Effects for the fly crew, and Best Featured Actress for Haley Braun as Scuttle (pictured center at top).
