As MoreThanTheCurve.com reported on June 3rd and June 6th, the Borough of Conshohocken is considering purchasing the former car dealership at 1109 and 1119 Fayette Street and 1201 Butler Pike in Conshohocken that straddles the Borough of Conshohocken and Whitemarsh Township border.
If purchased by the borough, the property would be used to construct a public safety facility that would be the home of Conshohocken Fire Company No. 2 and Narberth Ambulance. Those two entities currently own their own facilities elsewhere in the borough and would likely sell those facilities. The Washington Fire Company No. 1, would continue to own its property on West Elm Street, however, only serve as a storage facility for the water rescue equipment and smaller firefighting vehicles (due to its proximity to the river and large parking garages). The price for the property would be $5.1 million.
Conshohocken’s borough council will take up the issue on June 18th (agenda) when it considers an agreement of sale with Provco Pineville Fayette, LP, to purchase the property, along with resolutions associated with the purchase.
Note that the June 18th meeting is a Tuesday. Council normally meets on Wednesdays, but this meeting was rescheduled due to the Juneteenth holiday. The meeting will be held at the borough hall at 7:00 p.m.
