The Big East Conference announced on April 14th that Villanova’s Gavin Michener is the Big East Freshman of the Week for men’s lacrosse. Michener is a Plymouth Meeting native who played high school lacrosse for Penn Charter.
To earn recognition from the league, Michener had his second multi-goal game in Big East play by scoring three goals against St. John’s. He scored one goal in the first quarter and then picked up two goals during the Wildcats’ 6-0 run during the second quarter.
While at Penn Charter, Michener earned a total of 12 varsity letters, lettering every year in football, lacrosse, and track. He was also the varsity captain for all three teams. During his senior season, he was a 2024 USA Lacrosse All-American.
His father, John, played lacrosse for Villanova, and his mother, Bridget, played lacrosse at Hofstra. His older brother, Colin, also plays lacrosse for Villanova and is currently a redshirt sophomore.
