Colonial School District ranks above all nearby districts in Niche’s latest rankings, except for the ones on the Main Line

Niche has released its rankings of the school districts in the Philadelphia area. Of the nearby school districts, the Colonial School District ranks highest, excluding those on the Main Line. Colonial is ranked fourth, after the Tredyffrin-Eastown, Lower Merion, and Radnor school districts. This also makes Colonial the second-best district in Montgomery County behind Lower Merion.

Niche explained its criteria for establishing the rankings as follows:

The 2027 Best School Districts ranking is based on rigorous analysis of key statistics and millions of reviews from students and parents using data from the U.S. Department of Education. Ranking factors include state test scores, college readiness, graduation rates, teacher quality, public school district ratings, and more. SAT/ACT scores have been removed from this year’s rankings to reflect a general de-emphasis on test scores in the college admissions process.

Among the neighboring districts the region, Wissahickon ranks 12th, Upper Dublin 15th, Springfield (Montco) 25th, Methacton 31st, Upper Merion 32nd, Jenkintown 33rd, and Cheltenham 36th. Rankings were only made up to No. 66th. The Norristown Area School District was not given a ranking.
