The current Matsonford Bridge got its start on September 7, 1986 when the old bridge, which had been built in 1921, was imploded. According to a report from the Philadelphia Inquirer the following day, the implosion occurred at 10:43 a.m. and a crowd of 400 had gathered with blankets and lawn chairs to watch.
