Plymouth Whitemarsh High School’s Brennan Coyle won two silver medals at the 2024 Pennsylvania state Swimming and Diving Championship held March 13-16 at Bucknell University.

Senior Brennan Coyle swam to second place in two events: the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard breaststroke. In addition to capturing silver medals, Coyle’s performances in the two competitions were among the top in Plymouth Whitemarsh and PIAA history. His time of 47.57 in the butterfly ranked sixth fastest in state history and 53.91 in the breaststroke as the fourth fastest. The times also set new school records, shattering Niles Rankin’s breaststroke time of 57.79 from 2020 and Kyle Lukens’ butterfly time of 48.97 from 2012.

Overall, Plymouth Whitemarsh’s Boys Swimming and Diving team sent eight swimmers and two divers to the state championship. Leading up to states, the team finished 13th at the District One championships in the 200 medley relay. The relay swimmers , comprised of junior Wyatt McDevitt, Coyle, junior Aidan Smith, and sophomore Gavin Kriebel, finished 10th at Bucknell. Their time of 1:34.98 just missed the school record of 1:34.74.

In the 200 freestyle relay, Plymouth Whitemarsh finished 17th. That relay team consisted of Coyle, Kriebel, sophomore John Carr, and Aidan Smith.

In the state diving championship, brothers Jed and Austin Alderfer represented Plymouth Whitemarsh. , Junior Jed Alderfer secured 20th place with a score of 226.20, while freshman Austin Alderfer claimed 18th place with a score of 251.30.

On hand at the state meet as alternates for the relays were senior Alex Babka, junior Dryden Dafoe, and freshman Erik Babka.
