A suspected sinkhole has resulted in lane and exit closures on Chemical Road in Plymouth Meeting

Earlier today MoreThanTheCurve.com reported that PennDOT had closed some lanes of Chemical Road and an off-ramp from 476 in Plymouth Township. We now have a statement from PennDOT on the issue. From PennDOT:

What appears to be a sinkhole has occurred on eastbound Chemical Road near the end of the I-476 NB off-ramp. One lane of traffic is getting by in each direction between I-476 overpass and Germantown Pike. Because of the proximity to the end of the ramp, our Montgomery County maintenance unit closed the I-476 North ramp to Chemical Road (Exit 19). It will remain closed for the next few days. We will be starting to repair the area tomorrow to hopefully get the ramp and lane open within the week.

More to come if necessary.
