While Asad’s Hot Chicken is set to open on Friday, October 4th, at 3024 Butler Pike in Conshohocken (Whitemarsh Township), the restaurant still needs zoning relief from Whitemarsh Township due to the signage it hopes to install. The zoning hearing is scheduled for October 9th at 7:00 p.m. and will be held in the township building.
The restaurant is seeking variances from three sections of the township’s code involving signage. The first involves how many signs are permitted within the CR District. The restaurant seeks to have three: a mural painted on the building, wall signage, and a free-standing pylon sign.
The second concerns the signage’s square footage for the two attached to the building. The mural is 234.84 square feet, and the other sign on the building would be 34.4 square feet. Only a total of 35 square feet is permitted.
The third variance sought also involves the number of signs. The code specifies that only one sign is permitted for any non-residential use or property.
