The Borough of Conshohocken recently posted a notice that it is seeking to hire a part-time firefighter for the Borough of Conshohocken Fire Department. The job description is as follows:

Employee will be assigned to one of the two Borough fire stations; however, the assigned station may be changed or altered as deemed necessary by the Borough. This position will report directly to the Fire Chief or his/her designee. Well-qualified candidates will be able to perform tasks independently. Candidates will be able to maintain an air of professionalism in both appearance and attitude while on duty and in all instances when dealing with the public. Employee must be self-motivated with exceptional oral and written communication skills; possess the ability to work under difficult or stressful conditions with frequent interruptions and short deadlines; demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize needs of multiple individuals; excellent organizational and problem solving skills; and the ability to establish effective working relationships with residents, visitors and the general public. Primary work days and hours will be Monday through Friday 8am to 4pm as determined by the supervisor. Additional hours may be required. Employee will be expected to respond to all emergencies and engage in fire suppression activities while on duty. In addition, employee will responsible for weekly apparatus, equipment and station tasks.
