Brandywine Realty Trust made a presentation during the August 2nd meeting of Plymouth Township’s Council to introduce a proposed life sciences campus for the undeveloped portion of the Metroplex (the section with office buildings closer to Germantown Pike, not the retail section).
The property is already approved for a large office building and parking garage, and the life sciences campus, if approved, would be smaller in scope according to representatives of Brandywine. They went on to explain that they have spent $2 million trying to secure a tenant for the approved building but have been unsuccessful. The company has several other life sciences properties in the region and explained that it is there is a growing need for that type of space, especially when they can all be housed together on the same campus.
You can listen to the presentation below.
The campus would have office, research & development, and manufacturing components. The manufacturing component is not currently allowed with the current zoning and Brandywine plans to seek a text amendment through the council to move forward.
No timeline was offered.
