Burb Cooks: Chocolate Pancakes with Chef John from Brunch

In this edition of Burb Cooks, Owner/Chef John O’Brien of Brunch Conshohocken shows us how to make delicious chocolate pancakes for the family from scratch. The recipe will create approximately 24, 2.5 ounce pancakes.

Chocolate Pancakes with Bananas

Prep Time: 10 Minutes
Cook Time: 15 Minutes

 

INGREDIENTS

Dry Ingredients:

  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup chocolate syrup
  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla
  • 1/2 cup of oil or melted butter
PREPARATION

  1. Mix dry ingredients in a bowl.

  2. Mix wet Ingredients in a bowl.

  3. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix. Add vegetable oil or butter and mix.

  4. Heat skillet to medium. Add a ladle of batter to the skillet. Add in sliced bananas. Allow to cook until air bubbles have risen to the surface and popped. Then flip and cook the other side.

  5. Serve and Enjoy!
