Could Butler Pike Be Straightened at Germantown Pike?

The group attempting to preserve Abolition Hall, and the surrounding property and buildings, has posted an “urgent” message on its Facebook page. The message details an alleged proposal to straighten Butler Pike at Germantown Pike in Plymouth Meeting (Whitemarsh Township) as part of an overall redevelopment of the property that will add almost 50 townhomes on a field currently used for farming.

The concern over the straightening of Butler Pike is that it will effectively divide the property in two, separating Abolition Hall from another building on the property. Abolition Hall was a stop on the Underground Railroad.
