Challenge to Validity of Ordinance Amending Zoning District (That Would Allow a Wawa) Gets a Hearing

There is a notice up in front of the Moore property at 12th and Fayette (the Wawa site) that notifies the public of a hearing before the Conshohocken Zoning Hearing Board that involves a challenge to the zoning change made to the Residential-Office District approved by Conshohoken’s Borough Council in November (4-3 vote). The hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, January 30th at 7:00 p.m. at Borough Hall at West 4th Avenue and Fayette Street.

The challenge to the change was made by the neighboring property owners and asks that the zoning change be made void.

In 2016 the Zoning Hearing Board voted 6-0 (on three different issues) to deny zoning relief that would have allowed a Wawa with gas pumps to be built at the site. The members of the Zoning Hearing Board are still the same, however, the question before them will be the validity of the ordinance that amended the Residential-Office District, not whether a Wawa should be allowed on the site.

More to come.
