Circuses, Involving Exotic and Wild Animals, and Rodeos Banned in Whitemarsh

During last night’s meeting of Whitemarsh’s Board of Supervisors, the board voted unanimously to adopt an ordinance that bans the use of wild and exotic animals in performances like you find in circuses and rodeos.

As we pointed out in an article earlier this week, rodeos were not mentioned in the text of the ordinance. During the discussion on the ordinance rodeos were added to the ban.

There is only one place in Whitemarsh that regularly holds a circus and a rodeo. That is Lulu Shriners on Butler Pike.

The people in the green shirts in the photo are the members of the advocacy group that pushed the ordinance.
