Over the summer, Philadelphia’s Public Health Management Corp. started the process of closing services offered by nonprofit Carson Valley Children’s Aid in Flourtown (Springfield Township). Programs closed included a residential behavioral treatment program and other services for children, a service program for families in crisis, and a nursery school and childcare center known as The Schoolhouse. As of October 3rd, all of the programs have closed.
Springfield and Whitemarsh families lamented the loss of The Schoolhouse, which closed in August. In a July 10th report, NBC10’s Deanna Durante interviewed families impacted by the closure of the childcare portion of the facility. Within that report was an update on the possibility that The Schoolhouse could continue under new ownership and that the ownership of the property would consider leasing or buying the childcare center.
That opportunity is now available. The School House property, which is just shy of one acre, has been listed for sale for $2,450,000. The building is 16,600 square feet. It is being marketed as a “Rare opportunity to reopen a Daycare facility in the heart of Flourtown.”
