Colonial School Board to discuss returning to school five days a week

On the agenda for the January 21st meeting of the Colonial School Board is a discussion on the return of students to in-school instruction for five days a week. The virtual meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. and details on where to participate and/or view can be found here.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the district currently offers a hybrid model that provides families an option between two-days of in-school instruction and three days of virtual or 100% virtual. Families were recently asked via a survey to commit to either model through April 2nd, which is the conclusion of spring break.

As of January 21st, the school district has on a rolling 14-day basis, nine students who have tested positive and five staff members. Schools impacted are Plymouth Whitemarsh High School, Colonial Middle School, and Colonial Elementary School. There have been 61 total students and staff who have tested positive since October 19, 2020.

There is a petition on Change.org for those that support the return to in-school instruction full-time.
