What is that mess pictured above?  Well that is the trash and debris picked up by 10 volunteers and a Borough employee this past Saturday during the second Conshy Clean-Up, which are organized by this site.  Included among the trash were 25 tires, one water heater, one dishwasher, seven trashcans, one washing machine, one television, about 75′ of draining pipe, three lawnmowers, one shower stall, 20 large bags of debris, house siding, window screens, recyclable metals and plastics, etc. Thanks to the volunteers, the Borough for sending a truck, and Flanigan’s Boathouse Conshohocken for providing lunch.

Conshy native Cpl. Nick Mosakowski has returned from his second tour of Afghanistan.  He has also been deployed to Iraq and Haiti.

What is happening with the Super Wawa and why did Septa pull back from asking to expand the billboard alongside the bridge?  No one seems to know, but one connected person told me that he believes that they are waiting for after the upcoming election for a handful of seats on Borough Council.

Rumor has it that a Conshy restaurant’s burger won “best burger” from a regional magazine.

James Victor of Conshohocken created a 40 pound chicken salad statue of NFL draftee Mark Ingram for a promotion with SUBWAY.  Ingredients included chicken salad, golden raisins, cranberries, apples, celery and freshly baked bread.

Jane Leven from Conshohocken Free Library was recently named the 2011 Public Librarian of the year. A nominator for Ms. Leven said, “She has revitalized the library, which has brought in many new patrons. Jane encourages patrons to use all of the library’s resources. She has started many new programs for both children and adults. Jane is a rare treasure.”

The Disco Biscuits recorded their latest album, Otherwise Law Abiding Citizens, in Conshohocken at Studio 4.

The Conshohocken Restaurant Rally is quickly approaching on May 15th.  Last year The StoneRose won best restaurant.  Pictured above are organizers Vince Flocco, Debbie Flocco and Tom Wcislo with The StoneRose’s Brian Pieri.

Spamps had a great turnout for Yappy Hour this past Sunday.  They had about 25 dogs show up, plus their owners.  The event raised funds for the SPCA.

Conshohocken Fire Co. No. 2 is holding their annual fund drive.  To donate mail a check to PO Box 303, Conshohocken, PA 19428. You can also look out for their volunteers who will be collecting donations in the Annual Boot Drive at the intersection of 8th and Fayette St. on Friday, May 13th.

Dear CVS of Conshohocken, why do you insist on making me feel like I am in a Soviet-style breadline every time I am in your store.  Hire more cashiers.  Always have two at the front.  That is all I ask.  Thank you.

Conshohocken Restaurant Week is returning on June 13-19, 2011. This year’s participating restaurants currently include Fayette Street Grille, Isabella, Blackfish, Gypsy Saloon, Stella Blu, Flanigan’s Boathouse, Pepperoncini, The StoneRose, Guppy’s, Spamps, The Great American Pub, Shula’s 347 Grill, Spampinato’s, Trattoria Totaro, Piatto Grille and Totaro’s. More will be confirmed this week. There will also be a Preview Party on June 6th at the Philadelphia Marriott West in West Conshohocken that will benefit Cradles to Crayons. Cinco de Derbio, Conshy’s largest outdoor party, is coming to Baggataway Tavern on Saturday, May 7th starting at 3:00 p.m.  There will be live bands, a margarita bar, Corona and Dos Equis specials, an appearance by the Dos Equis girls, Mint Juleps and tacos all OUTSIDE. No cover.  Playing live will be Loaded and the Swamprats.

The Colonial Democrats are honoring Conshohocken’s Liam McGuigan and the Democrat of the Year on Thursday, May 5th at the Whitemarsh Valley Country Club.

The Conshohocken Cafe held their first Open Mic Night this past week.  It is now a regular event every Monday night from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  Rumor has it they are also adding a Movie Night.

Dish Public Relations is hosting a “Get Happy” Happy Hour at Gypsy Saloon on Tuesday, May 10th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Please RSVP by Monday, May 9th, if you’d like to attend.  Gypsy Saloon will offer complimentary hors d’oeuvres & drink specials, including $5 glasses of wine, $4 Svedka vodka drinks, $2.50 Miller Lite bottles and $2 Yuengling & Miller Lite drafts.

Gypsy Saloon is also all revved up for Cinco de Mayo and Mother’s Day.  For Cinco de Mayo you can sip on $5 Margaritas, specially priced Mexican beers and a COMPLIMENTARY Taco Bar, where you can build your own tacos from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.  They will also have their regular menu.  For Mother’s Day, they will offer a special Mother’s Day Brunch Menu, $5 Mimosas and Bloody Marys. Spamps got fancy and made a commercial.  They are also having a Mother’s Day Brunch from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. $17.95 for adults and $10.95 for kids 10 and under.  Dinner will begin at 3:00 p.m.

Conshohocken Catholic’s annual Ducky Regatta will be held on May 14th at 10:00 a.m. The event allows you to buy a numbered “ducky” to benefit the school. The duckies are released in river and the first ducky to the bridge wins. Stay tuned for details on how to purchase your ducky.
