Conshohocken’s Former Solicitor Pleads Guilty to Lying to the FBI

As we have reported, the Borough of Conshohocken’s long serving solicitor, Michael Savona, was caught up in a federal investigation involving corruption by public officials in Lower Southampton Township (where he also served as solicitor). Savona was first mentioned as a witness, but he was eventually charged for lying to the FBI.

According to an article in the Bucks County Courier Times,  Savona plead guilty last week to one count of giving a false statement to federal investigators. The false statement was in regards to his knowledge of a bribe that was made in connection to a proposed billboard that needed approval from Lower Southampton’s Board of Supervisors.

After Savona’s name was publicly connected to the investigation in December 2017, he resigned from the solicitor positions he held at a variety of municipalities and left the lawn firm Eastburn & Gray.

Sentencing is scheduled for June.
