Covanta Renewal Before Whitemarsh Township’s Board of Supervisors

On the September 26th agenda for the Whitemarsh Township Board of Supervisors is the consideration of a three-year renewal with Covanta to accept the township’s trash. Covanta’s plant burns trash to generate energy.

Covanta has come under fire over the last year for malfunctions at the plant that have led to an odor impacting the neighbors of the plant in Conshohocken (Plymouth Township). In recent months, Plymouth Township and Conshohocken have delayed renewing its contract with Covanta.
