Covanta renewal on agenda in West Conshohocken tonight

The Covanta renewal is on the agenda of West Conshohocken’s Borough Council for tonight (7:00 p.m.).

Last night, Plymouth Township’s Council approved a two-year extension. It looks like all the surrounding municipalities waited for Plymouth to approve it and will now follow suit.

The plant has caused a lot of concern in the community over the past year due to a series of malfunctions.

We would like to point out that West Conshohocken provides much more detail on its agenda in reference to the Covanta renewal than Conshohocken or Plymouth Township, which both just used a few words. West Conshy’s agenda reads:

To Authorize the Borough Manager to extend the Waste Disposal Agreement between West Conshohocken Borough and Covanta 4Recovery for a two- year period from January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2021 at the tipping fees of $58.50 per ton during 2020 and $59.96 per ton in 2021.
