On the July 11th agenda (view) for the Whitemarsh Township Board of Supervisors is a proposal from Delaware Valley Wildlife Management to perform a controlled “deer cull” on township open space along Manor Road in the Miquon neighborhood. The organization would provide screened hunters to conduct the cull to control the local population of deer. The proposal is found on page 103 of the agenda.
Other items on the agenda include the township’s financial audit, a conditional use hearing for a skincare company that seeks to open at 433 Bethlehem Pike in Fort Washington, consideration of an ordinance for a fats, oils, and grease reduction program, and consideration of recommendations for the use of funds from the American Rescue Plan Act. Township.
Through the American Rescue Plan Act, Whitemarsh Township has received $1,926,122.72. Thus far it has spent 545,404.16 on the Westaway Storm Sewer Program ($86,721.16), audio-visual upgrades to a township meeting room ($65,000.00), the electronic sign at the intersection of Joshua Road and Germantown Pike ($136,183.00), windows in the township administration building ($150,000.00), and windows in the police station ($107,500.00). The American Rescue Plan Act was signed into law in 2021 in response to the pandemic and included $350 billion in assistance to state and local governments
Already allocated for future projects are $55,000.00 and $400,000.00 towards storm water management projects at Pine Tree Road and Jackson Drive.
The recommended projects total $934,565.00 and include:
- Township Windows Meeting Room ($196,680.00)
- Pointing and Concrete Repair- Twp Building ($28,000.00)
- Public Works Garage Doors ($119,500.00)
- New Roof at Cedar Grove Barn ($100,000.00)
- New Play Structures at Leeland and Cedar Grove Parks ($95,000.00)
- Labor for Salt Shed at Public Works Building ($225,000.00)
- Upgrade to Township Courtyard ($60,000.00)
- Upgrade to Police Furniture – $40,000.00
- Multi-Purpose UTV (PW, P&R, Emergency Services) ($35,385.00)
- Conversion of paper documents to digitalize ($35,000.00)
