DEP Issues a Code Orange Air Quality Action Day Forecast for Montco on June 30th

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) reports that on Saturday, June 30th “a strong ridge of high pressure centered over the eastern U.S. will promote sunshine, light southwesterly winds and temperatures rising into the mid-90s.” This will result in ozone levels rising to the Code Orange range in Montgomery County and elsewhere. This type of alert is referred to as a “Air Quality Action Day.”

On Air Quality Action Days, the DEP suggests that “young children, the elderly and those with respiratory problems, such as asthma, emphysema and bronchitis, are especially vulnerable to the effects of air pollution and should limit outdoor activities.”

Stay cool.
