Does Conshohocken need a small commercial kitchen space?

As the owner of the Conshohocken Farmers’ Market, we receive at least four calls a month from potential vendors who are new to the food business and want to vend at the market. Often, their preparation methods don’t meet the requirements set by the county to participate. For example, the food needs to be prepared in a commercial kitchen that is routinely inspected.

There is a process for having your home kitchen meet these requirements, but not everyone is in the position to do that. For example, if you have an indoor pet, it can be impossible.

A Conshohocken property owner contacted us recently, and we discussed some ideas about the property’s potential. We explained that we believe a small commercial kitchen is needed.

The property is 800 square feet and has a private office and basement storage space. The kitchen is not built; the point of this post is to gauge interest.

We think there is a need for this. If you believe there are as well, comment on Facebook or email kevin@burbmedia.com.
