Downed poles caused power outage in Conshohocken. Borough sets up warming center for those impacted

More information is now available regarding the power outage in Conshohocken. The Borough of Conshohocken has provided a statement that “downed utility poles” near the intersection of West First Avenue and Maple Street caused the outage. Montgomery County’s incident report shows an “electrical fire outside” being reported at 2:08 p.m. at West First Avenue. What caused the down poles has not been released.

Initially, the power outage was impacting almost 500 accounts. As of 3:48 p.m., that number was reduced to 153. PECO currently reports that power restoration is projected to be by 9:00 p.m. However, the statement from the Borough of Conshohocken states that “Peco is currently working to restore power, and they will potentially be working through the night.”

The borough has setup a warming center for those impacted at The Community Center at 515 Harry Street. Those without power are encouraged to turn their water on to a trickle to prevent pipes from freezing.
