Former Whitemarsh Township supervisor Bob Hart was sworn into office on February 7th as the controller in Montgomery County following Governor Josh Shapiro’s appointment and confirmation by the state senate. Hart succeeds Acting Controller Tom Landauer, who temporarily served in the position when former Controller Karen Geld-Sanchez resigned at the end of 2024.
Hart, an attorney, was previously a supervisor in Whitemarsh from 2008 to 2016. He resigned as a supervisor to accept an appointment as the solicitor for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. He held that position briefly before again resigning to accept the role of chief administration officer and township manager for East Norriton Township. Hart served in that role for approximately nine years.
According to Montgomery County’s website, the position of the controller “is an elected row officer and has general supervision over all fiscal affairs of the county and of the accounts of all functions collecting, receiving, or disbursing county funds.”
