Jason Salus Made Changes to Website and Social Media After Article by MoreThanTheCurve.com

Back in May, MoreThanTheCurve.com questioned whether Montgomery County Treasurer Jason Salus was blurring the line between his role as an elected official and a politician.

It appears MoreThanTheCurve.com made a valid point.

Since the article, we have noticed some changes.

Prior to MoreThanTheCurve.com’s article, the website for the Montgomery County Treasurer’s Office listed the Twitter handle @jasonsalus on its sidebar. As MoreThanTheCurve.com pointed out, this Twitter handle shared all types of political content. Having it on a government website was inappropriate. The Twitter handle was recently removed:

Salus’ business Facebook page also listed him as a “Government Official”, which would be fine if the page wasn’t making political posts. It was. The classification for the page has now been changed from “Government Official” to “Politician”.

What is still unknown is the status of the email database. As the original article showed, Salus was directing people from on former “Government Official” Facebook page to email and email address associated with his campaign to sign-up to receive information about the Treasurer’s Office.

MoreThanTheCurve.com hasn’t seen a “Treasurer’s Bulletin” email newsletter since the May 2018 edition. So we are unsure as to whether the status of this email database has been impacted.

More to come.
