Lafayette Hill native to be honored for 25 years of service in the athletic communications field

College Sports Communicators will honor Lafayette Hill native and Plymouth Whitemarsh High School graduate Stephen Gorchov for his 25 years of service in athletic communications. Gorchov currently serves as Hofstra University’s senior associate director of athletics for marketing and communications and has worked within the university’s athletic communication department for 25 years.

In his current role, Gorchov is the sports contact for volleyball, men’s basketball, men’s lacrosse, and women’s lacrosse.  He is also the spokesperson for the Department of Athletics, the contact for all administrative-related public relations matters, and the team administrator for the Pride’s men’s golf program.

“Congratulations to Stephen on 25 years in the field of college athletic communications,” said Hofstra Vice President and Director of Athletics Rick Cole Jr. “To have all 25 of those years at Hofstra is truly special and we look forward to the next 25 as well.”

Gorchov attended Hofstra as a student and served as the basketball team’s head team manager under Butch van Breda Kolff and Jay Wright from 1992 through 1996 and volleyball team head manager in 1996 and 1997.

After graduation, Gorchov began his career as a marketing and ticket intern at Drexel University. A year later, he returned to Hofstra as an administrative assistant to the Hofstra volleyball program before being named the assistant director of athletic communications in December 1999.

Gorchov and other award honorees who have served 25 years will be recognized at the organization’s annual convention in June in Orlando.
