Man arrested in North Carolina after alleged assault and vehicle theft outside Weis Markets store in East Norriton

A Drexel Hill man was arrested in North Carolina after he allegedly assaulted and stole the vehicle of a 72-year-old woman outside the Weis Markets store in East Norriton. The incident took place on July 17th at approximately 6:15 p.m. and the arrest 10 hours later on July 18th at approximately 4:00 a.m.

According to police, 26-year-old Ameer Appline is alleged to have stolen a taxi cab in Philadelphia and drove it to the store in East Norriton. Once at the store, Appline is alleged to have assaulted the woman and stolen her vehicle. The taxi was abandoned at the store.

In a press release, police stressed that this was an isolated incident and there is no further danger to the community.

The East Norriton Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident.
