Man arrested on trafficking minors and sex abuse once coached baseball at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School

NBC10 Deanna Durante reported on the investigation and arrest of 33-year-old Tyler Degiacomo, who is facing charges involving trafficking minors and sex abuse in Springfield Township. The Oreland resident was a substitute teacher within the Springfield School District in Montgomery County, an umpire for the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association, and served as a baseball coach for two years at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School in Plymouth Meeting.

Regarding Degiacomo’s time at Plymouth Whitemarsh, the Colonial School District sent out a statement to parents on June 3rd. From the statement.

From 2020-2022, Mr. Degiacomo was the 9th grade baseball coach at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School. Prior to his employment, he submitted all required background checks and clearances as required by law. Those clearances include the Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Certification, the Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation Background Check. All of his clearances were clean and there was no history of a criminal record. The District did not receive any complaints from parents or students during his time coaching baseball. We wanted to share this information with everyone because the safety and welfare of our students is of paramount importance.
