The Conshohocken Police Department issued a press release regarding a March 17th incident that involved a standoff along the 400 block of Spring Mill Avenue in the borough. Police responded to the scene just before 3:30 p.m. after a report of a 43-year-old man allegedly with a knife who was threatening multiple people. According to court documents, the man thrust the knife towards at least one person, but missed. The potential victim than fled the scene.
According to police, when they arrived on the scene, the officers were informed that the man had entered the apartment building where he lived. With the man inside the apartment building, police began establishing a perimeter. While doing this, the smell of natural gas was detected and the other tenants of the apartment building were evacuated.
Police made repeated commands for the man to exit the building, however, he threw items from a second floor window, including two air condition units. One is alleged to have almost hit someone as he or she exited the building.
The police department’s press release offers that the officers used “less-lethal methods to subdue the individual.” The man was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for evaluation and treatment and that charges are pending.
Court documents show the pending charges as the first degree felony of Aggravated Assault – Attempts to cause SBI or causes injury with extreme indifference, and the two third degree felonies of Terroristic Threats Cause Evacuation Of Bldg Etc, and Terroristic Threats W/ Int To Terrorize Another. There are also three pending associated misdemeanors. A preliminary hearing has not yet been scheduled.
As the police did not name the man and implied that there may be a mental health issue, we did not include his name.
