Montgomery County certifies local judicial race. New magisterial judge for Plymouth Township and western side of Conshohocken

The Montgomery County Board of Elections met today to vote to certify two races that underwent recounts. All of the other races were certified last week.

One of the two races was local, which was the race for Magisterial District Judge 38-1-13, which covers the western side of the Borough of Conshohocken and Plymouth Township.

This race had incumbent Frank Bernhardt (R) (pictured right at top of article) leading Jodi Lukens Griffis (D) (pictured left at top of article) on election night by 99 votes. Since then the county announced that 9,000 ballots had to be recreated due to their not scanning properly. There was also an issue with the 16,000 mail-in ballots that were printed on only one side.

Leading up to the initial certification date, Lukens led by 69 votes (3,081 to 3,012). The recount upheld these totals.

Jodi Lukens Griffis will join her mother as a Magisterial District Judge. Her mother, Deborah Lukens, serves as the judge on the neighboring court that covers the eastern side of the Borough of Conshohocken and Whitemarsh Township.
