Montgomery County Commissioner Dr. Val Arkoosh on response to positive cases in schools

During an August 26th press conference, Montgomery County Commissioner Dr. Val Arkoosh was asked by KYW’s Jim Jim Melwert a few questions regarding what will happen when there is a positive case of Coronavirus in a school.

The county’s exclusion guidance referenced by Dr. Arkoosh in the video can be found here. It is a chart that tells you when a child can return to school if he or she has symptoms and/or a positive test result.

Dr. Arkoosh also goes through what one positive case in a school means vs. two or more, who in the class would be considered exposed and have to quarantine, and when a school would need to be closed.

Most public schools in the county are reopening with a virtual model, including those within the Colonial School District, however, some public and most private schools are reopening.
