Montgomery County has announced that it will spray for mosquitoes in a portion of Plymouth Township on August 31st. The Montgomery County Department of Health & Human Services Office of Public Health made the decision to spray after consulting with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and Plymouth Township officials.

The spraying will take place south of Arch Road, north of Walton Road, east of Germantown Pike and west of Township Line Road and the Pennsylvania Turnpike. The spraying will be done where sampling by the county and state has shown mosquitoes that carry the West Nile Virus. If weather is an issue on August 31st, the the alternate date will be Friday, September 1st.

Official advise that residents within the spray area, shown in the map above, should consider remaining indoors, closing windows, and turning off ventilation systems that draw in outside air for the duration of the spray plus 30 minutes after. 

The spray used will be Duet Duel-action Adulticide at a rate of 0.75 fluid ounces per acre applied with a truck mounted Ultra Low Volume (ULV) sprayer. The spray will be performed by county personnel.
