MoreThanTheCurve saves Christmas! Proposed natural Christmas tree ban for some buildings and residences removed from agenda in Whitemarsh

On the March 10th, MoreThanTheCurve.com reported that the March 12th agenda for the Whitemarsh Township Board of Supervisors included an item that involved whether to consider advertising a hearing to for the possible adoption of an ordinance that would prohibit real Christmas trees in multi-family, commercial, and public buildings. The proposed ordinance came at the recommendation of the township’s fire marshal, who pointed to a fire hazard created by natural trees.

If adopted, the ordinance would have essentially prohibited natural trees in every building in the township, however, an exemption was carved out for “one- or two-family dwellings, provided such dwellings are used solely for residential purposes and not for commercial, assembly, or public occupancy.”

On March 11th, the agenda was updated and the item involving the natural Christmas trees was removed.

The agenda as posted on March 10th. See No. 3.

A revised agenda posted on March 11th. The line item about the Christmas tree prohibition is gone.
