New Sinkhole Opens on Butler Pike in Plymouth Meeting – Near Sinkhole Currently Under Repair

The portion of Butler Pike in Plymouth Meeting between Germantown Pike and Plymouth/Flourtown Roads that has been closed since mid-August of 2018 due to a sinkhole was projected to open mid-April (basically any day).

But that is not going to happen.

Plymouth Township Council Member Karen Bramblett posted on social media tonight the following:

BUTLER PIKE UPDATE (please don’t shoot the messenger): A new sinkhole just opened at the Butler closure, this one closer to the RR abutment, which once again exposes the PECO gas line. Butler will NOT open next week as planned. I’m beyond devastated, frustrated, irritated.

The good news is that the new sinkhole is on the same portion of Butler, so it’s not going to make matters any worse, except for it being closed longer. If this had happened on another portion of Butler, it would have been devastating to local traffic.

We work on an update on Monday.

More to come.
