Meatball Wars made the news last week.  NBC10 spent the better part of the day filming a spot for their 6:00 p.m. newscast.  It also aired a few other times on subsequent newscasts.  Meatball Wars now includes The Outbound Station, Spamps/Spampinato’s, Lenny’s Deli, Trattoria Totaro, Stella Blu, Pepperoncini, Deli on 4th and Pasta Via.  At least $1 from the sale of each meatball sandwich goes to $100 for 100.  For details on the Finale click here.

Conshohocken-native Maddy Crippen, ran this past weekend’s NYC Marathon with her late brother in mind. Fran Crippen died at a swimming World Cup race in the United Arab Emirates last month. Maddy, a former Olympic swimmer, signed up for the marathon at the urging of her late brother. Fran ran it the last two years. Maddy finished in 4:06:19 and raised money for the USO in running her second marathon.

Teresa Crippen, who swims at the University of Florida, has been nominated for the 2010 Golden Goggles’ Breakout Performer of the Year.  The Golden Goggles is swimming’s Oscars.

There was a ketchup fight at the 401 Diner.

The Associated Builders and Contractors of Southeast Pennsylvania recognized Conshohocken-native Antoinette Coupe as their Woman of the Year.

Philly.com’s Michael Klein reports that lawyer F. Lee Bailey will join a fund-raiser for his friend Walter I. Hofman, who will run for reelection as Montgomery County coroner next year. It’s at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Spring Mill Firehouse, 1210 Hector St. in Conshohocken.

Tracy Michele Connelly, who stole more than 167,000 from the Conshohocken Sewer Authority, is headed to the big house.

The Philadelphia Fight Rugby League Club will be holding a Beef & Beer on December 4th at Maloney’s Pub to support their Spring 2011 Tour of England.  Maloney’s Pub was named the “Official Clubhouse” of the Philadelphia Fight.

This is a fundraiser for our team’s tour of England in the Spring 2011. We need to raise funds for travel and uniforms.

Tickets are $35 each and we will have Rolling Rock or Bud Light Drafts and soda, Beef and Pork sandwiches, potato and pasta salad, and cheese and roasted pepper trays.

The Outbound Station is holding an Open Mic Night on Thursday, November 18th starting at 7:00 p.m. You are welcome to share your thoughts, poetry or music.

Guppy’s is also launching an Open Mic Night every Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. (the first one is tonight).  During the event Guppy’s is having $2.50 Coors Light drafts.

St. Mary’s Parish, at W. Maple & Elm) is holding a Christmas Bazaar on Sun, Nov 14th from noon to 7:00 p.m. There will be homemade Polish and American food, Games of Chance, live music and dancing, auctions and a visit from Santa (at 4:00 p.m.)
