Stephen Phipps was selected as the new Chief of the entire Conshohocken Fire Department.  In addition to his years of service as a fire fighter, he was also a recent Conshy Celebrity.

Borough Council also established a commission to attract new businesses to the borough.  They are looking for members.

Londonbury at Millenium is set to open its first building in mid-March and continue phasing in additional buildings through the summer.  In all they will have slightly more than 300 units.  The complex has an amazing clubhouse “with a resort-style pool, State-of-the-Art fitness center, lounge with a 50” flat screen TV, game room with billiards, poker tables, flat screen TVs and the Wii gaming system, internet café and kitchen with a Starbucks machine.”

All day/night at the Boathouse they are offering $3 Yuengling Lager drafts and Yuengling Lager Light bottles.  At 9:00 p.m. its Quizzo and for dinner they are featuring a Prime Rib special for $14.99.

Another person confirmed to me that a Mexican restaurant is opening in the space formally occupied by the pretzel place.  What I also learned was that Minuteman Press, which is next door, may be moving up the street.

M Bar has a full list of their daily specials on their website including St. Maarten Sunday featuring $3.00 tropical drinks (Coconut Martinis, Pina Coladas and Tropical Breezes).

Chip Roman, owner and chef of BlackFish Restaurant, is a semifinalist for the prestigious James Beard Awards.  He is being considered in two categories, “best chef mid-atlantic region” and “rising star chef.”

Blackfish also announced its next participant in its’ Guest Chef Series, which takes place on the first Monday of each month. Monday, March 1st Blackfish welcomes Chef Jonathan “Jonny Mac” Adams from Pub & Kitchen.  Jonny Mac and Chip Roman will collaborate on a seven course meal for $85 per person (plus tax and gratuity).  Call 610.397.0888 for reservations.

Spring Mill Cafe’s Executive Chef Michèle Haines continues her Julia Child inspired series this Thursday night.  Haines will  lead guests through a culinary lesson featuring Fricassée of Pheasant Black Forest Style.  The price is $36 plus tax and gratuities.

Violinist Daniel Yoo, who hangs out in Conshy, will be performing at  Guppy’s for “Breakfast with Daniel Yoo” on Sunday, March 7th at 11:00 a.m.  The price is $25.

The Philadelphia Fight Vixens Dance Team is holding auditions on Sunday, March 14th from noon to 5:00 p.m. at Conshohocken Health & Fitness Club.  The Vixens perform at the Philadelphia Fight’s home games which are played in Conshohocken.  For more info email auditions@caruentertainment.com.

The Society of Progressive Drinkers of Conshy Democrats are going to be holding monthly happy hours to raise money for Conshy’s 4th of July Fireworks.  Their first one will be March 2nd from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Guppy’s Good Times.

The Shade Tree Commission submitted an annual report to Borough Council.  They are holding their next planting for March 27th.
