No surprises in local elections in Conshohocken, West Conshohocken, Plymouth and Whitemarsh

There were no surprises in the local elections in Conshohocken, West Conshohocken, Plymouth, and Whitemarsh on November 4th. Democrats hold a significant majority in registration in all four municipalities and Democratic Party incumbents and new candidates won across the board.

Borough of Conshohocken

The race to watch for the borough council involved former Republican mayor Bob Frost seeking to unseat incumbent Democrat Stacy Ellam in Ward 6. Frost fell short by 59 votes (264-205).

In Ward 2, incumbent Democrat Adrian Serna defeated Republican Richard Kosich by a vote of 96-30.

In Ward 4, Democrat David Bria, who previously served on Yardley’s council as recently as August 2022, and who is a newer resident in Conshohocken, was uncontested. He had 387 votes.

For the borough-wide position of mayor, incumbent Democrat Yaniv Aronson topped Mike Makoid 2,348 to 736 to earn a third-term

For the borough-wide position of tax collector, incumbent Republican Dominic Coccia was uncontested, earning 2,744 votes. Coccia appeared on the ballot as both a Democrat and Republican.

Borough of West Conshohocken

Voters in West Conshohocken were asked to vote for three candidates to serve a four-year term on the borough council and one candidate for a two-year term. Incumbent Democrats Richard Marr, Stephen Blumenthal, and Tara Gorney will all return to office as all topped 300 votes each, while the two Republican candidates, Guy Davis and Walter Gleba, received 146 and 196 votes each.

In the race for the two-year term on the council, incumbent Democrat Tori Conicello-Emery was unopposed and had 437 votes.

In the non-council races, incumbent Democrats, Mayor Danielle Fournier and Tax Collector Jerry Conincello, both ran unopposed and earned 481 and 467 votes, respectively. Fournier appeared n the ballot as both a Democrat and Republican.

Plymouth Township

There were three seats up for election on Plymouth’s council, and Democrats won all three. Former council president Chris Manero returns to the council after sitting out a term due to term limits. He won the at-large seat with 4,811 and was unopposed.

Democrat William Winchester, who is finishing up a four-year term on the Colonial School Board, chose to run to represent Ward 1 in the township rather than for another term on the school board. He was unopposed and won with 1,071 votes.

Incumbent Democrat Lynne Viscio was unopposed for the council seat for Ward 3. She won with 1,619. She appeared on the ballot as a Democrat and Republican.

Whitemarsh Township

There were two seats on the Whitemarsh Board of Supervisors up for election, and voters were asked to vote for two out of a pool of four candidates. New candidate Democrat Megan Griffin-Shelley earned 5,534 votes, while incumbent Democrat Patrice Turenne won 5,031. The two Republican candidates, Fran X. O’Donnell and Christi O’Donoghue, fell short with 2,144 and 1,988, respectively.

Colonial School Board

For the Colonial School Board, voters were asked to vote for four candidates and had exactly four candidates to choose from. The candidates continued the recent tradition of not seeking endorsement from either political party. First-time candidate Tomas Santiago joined incumbents Gail Plant, Sharon Marino, and Rasheda Randall to claim all four spots on the board.
