No, the Mayor of Conshohocken does not live in a house paid for by the borough

There has been a recent commentator in the MoreThanTheCurve.com Local News Facebook Group offering a bevy of uninformed claims. It is not an anonymous account; it is someone using his own name and giving out details such as where he works.

He is one of those types who thinks the 70s and 80s were peak Conshohocken. You know, when the shops were boarded up and the riverfront was a post-industrial environmental mess.

For some reason, the commentator drags Mayor Yaniv Aronson of Conshohocken, who is essentially a figurehead, into his diatribes. Here are a few (grammar and spelling are courtesy of the commentator):

We need to start a protest to get rid of the mayor of conshohocken. All the money that he waisted. And he is going to do it till 2028.

The mayor can only cast a vote to break a tie, and we can’t remember him ever getting that opportunity. The council determines the budget.

U can try to contact the mayor. It’s public knowledge on Google. He is enjoying the house and the 3 cars. Probably on vacation at our expense. O’Neal Development pays for everything if everyone looks the other way Yaniv Aronson. His number should be 1-800. Give me a large check for doing nothing. It’s funny that he will not stick up for us.

Why would O’Neill try to influence a mayor who doesn’t have a role in the zoning process in another municipality?

Imagine living here your whole life and some greedy developer. Destroys the whole river front for money.And now needs to build a data center . Like he already destroyed everything else. The animals have no where to live. But I guess he doesn’t have enough money yet. So let’s make sure all the people that live here suffer from pollution and noise. Because I don’t care about anything but myself. This man is a selfish piece of shit. He is a lying scumbag ask a real scientist not the guy u paid to say yeah it’s all good. Fucking lying scumbag.

The riverfront was cleaned up by the new development. O’Neill actually played a major role in that. President George W. Bush came to Conshohocken in 2002 to sign the legislation that allowed brownfields to be reclaimed and praised O’Neill’s work in Conshohocken. There is now a walking path, rowing center, and open space on what was once an industrial mess. The idea that the Conshohocken riverfront was some animal sanctuary over the past 100 years is a joke.
