Former Conshohocken Borough Council President Paul McConnell has passed away. He represented the 3rd Ward for eight years. Below is his obituary:

Paul G. McConnell, age 54, died peacefully at his home February 27th, 2019 in Conshohocken, PA, after a brief illness with cancer. He was born in Northeast Washington, D.C. He is survived by his parents, James and Amelia (Goulart) McConnell, his brothers & sisters-in-law, James & Patty McConnell, Mark & Cindy McConnell, and six nieces and nephews; Megan, Kristin, Sarah, Joe, Matt and Sam. Paul had a very special place in his heart for cats and will miss his beautiful tuxedo cat, Billysky.

Paul worked as an IT professional at AmerisourceBergen healthcare delivery and solutions company for 10+ years. He was heavily involved in local community politics and focused on making Conshohocken a better place to live. Paul served the borough council for 8 years, 6 years as President. He led the council in making significant improvements to parks and recreation, including establishing a community garden and a riverfront dock, boathouse, and picnic area. Paul was a proud member of the local Rotary Club Chapter, and active at Saint Matthew Catholic Church in Conshohocken.

A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church at the Wilde Lake Interfaith Center in Columbia, MD on March 15, 2019 at 10 am. Paul will be laid to rest at St. Louis Cemetery in Clarksville, MD with the help of Harry H. Witzke’s Family Funeral Home.
From his quirky serious humor, to his love for travel, cats, fine foods and gardening (paulseestheworld.com), to being the master uncle of scavenger hunts, Paul exemplified a caring, giving, private, and humble human. Paul was beloved by all who knew him. Paul left us too soon, but Paul saw the world.
