Old Mansion House looking to add a deck

The Old Mansion House at 641 Old Elm Street in Conshohocken (Plymouth Township) is seeking to add a deck to the property. The issue will be before the Plymouth Township Planning Agency on December 1st (agenda) and the township’s zoning hearing board on December 20th (agenda). The planning agency will make a recommendation and the zoning hearing board will make the final decision.

According to the zoning agenda, Plymouth Township’s zoning officer determined in a November 18th letter that the addition of a deck would result in the need for the bar to add more off-street parking. The owners are appealing this decision. If the appeal is not successful, they are requesting a variance to “allow 36 parking spaces, 31 spaces on gravel, where a minimum of 66 spaces is required.”

There has been a pending liquor license transfer in the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board database since approximately early 2020. The license is in the process of being transfered from Mansion House Hotel, Inc., to 641 Old Elm Hotel, LLC. The owner of the LLC is Evan Lambert, who is the owner of Savona in Gulph Mills.

We have not yet learned what Lambert’s plan is for the bar beyond adding a deck.

More to come.
