Open mailboxes spotted overnight spark concern from Whitemarsh police

The Whitemarsh Township Police Department alerted the public on August 27th that mailboxes along Barren Hill Road and River Road in the township may have been gone through by unknown actors overnight (August 26th to August 27th). Officers patrolling the area noticed mailboxes that had been left open at approximately 4:00 a.m.

Police searched the area where opened mailboxes were spotted and along the Schuylkill River Trail, however, did not locate any suspects.

If you believe you had mail and/or packages in your mailbox that were removed, you are asked to contact the Whitemarsh Township Police Department.

Anyone with information regarding these incidents or who may have security/Ring/Nest camera footage that captured a suspect is also asked to contact the department.

Police advise that you be cautious when placing any sensitive information for collection in your mailboxes overnight.
