Philadelphia Man Arrested After Arriving to Meet Teen in Conshohocken (But It Wasn’t a Teen on the Other End of the Computer)

The Times Herald reports that a Philadelphia man, Gera Gelishvili, was arrested in Conshohocken after a Conshohocken detective posed as a 13-year girl. From the article:

According to the affidavit of probable cause, on March 20, investigators came across a Craigslist ad posted by someone claiming to be a 23-year-old white male interested in girls, “especially the younger the better.”

The detective — posing as a 13-year-old girl — began corresponding with the man via email and text. In a series of electronic communications, the man, calling himself ‘George,’ said he was a former EMT who was now in marketing. He unwittingly asked the detective sexually suggestive and explicit questions and sent photos of himself.

According to the criminal complaint, investigators found photos of the same man on Gelishvili’s Facebook account and determined he and George were one in the same.

On March 27, Gelishvili made contact with the “girl” again, this time inquiring if she wanted to sneak out and have sex.

The detective exchanged several text messages with Gelishvili and set up a meeting in the 300 block of Washington Street.

He claimed his innocence when confronted by police and arrested. The article goes on to say that he was charged with several crimes including criminal attempt of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a person less than 16 years of age, criminal attempt of statutory sexual assault, criminal attempt of unlawful sexual contact with a minor and criminal use of communication facility. He wasn’t able to pay his bail and is currently being held at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility. The first hearing is on April 11th.
