Plan for hotel scaled back at SORA West. Name and brand confirmed

During a presentation during the December 16th meeting of Conshohocken’s Borough Council, Keystone Property Group outlined a new design for a portion of the redevelopment property at West Elm Street and Fayette Street.

The not-yet-built hotel has been scaled back from 165 rooms to 127 rooms. In addition, the hotel will now connect with the historic firehouse that has always been planned to become a restaurant. The rendering at the top of the article is from the perspective of looking down Fayette Street from near the corner of Fayette Street and West 1st Avenue.

The project also recently was awarded $1 million from the state through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program. The program provides money towards the construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvement projects.

In the description of the hotel in the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program announcement, the hotel is referred to by name as West & Main and describes the hotel as part of the Tapestry Collection by Hilton. The hotels in the collection all have different names.

The focus of this project is the construction of the site’s 128-key hotel – the West & Main, part of the Hilton Tapestry Collection. West & Main will include 3,422 SF of dedicated meeting space; a 1080 SF lobby lounge; and 1,363 SF of indoor dining on the 2nd floor of a renovated historic firehouse. A 2nd floor connection point between the hotel and firehouse will provide an indoor/outdoor experience. The indoor portion will be approximately 1,294 SF, with an outdoor terrace of 639 SF.

Borough Council voted 6-0 to approve the second amended final land development for this project to move forward with the updated plan. Councilmember Robert Stokley (R) recused himself.
