Acclaimed vocalist and composer Phyllis Chapell and award-winning filmmaker, composer, and Plymouth Meeting resident and music producer Rodney Whittenberg were honored in October 2025 with a Bronze Medal at the Global Music Awards for their collaboration on the music video for Chapell’s “Howling Wolf.”
From the announcement:
This international recognition celebrates the powerful synergy between Chapell’s hauntingly beautiful vocals and Whittenberg’s cinematic visual storytelling. Together, they created a multimedia experience that explores humanity’s timeless bond with nature and spirit — blending world music, jazz, and poetic imagery into a work of profound emotional and artistic depth.
“Creating ‘Howling Wolf’ was a journey of heart and spirit,” said Chapell. “I’m deeply honored that this piece has resonated with listeners and viewers around the world.”
“It’s always a joy to collaborate with artists like Phyllis who bring such authenticity and passion to their work,” added Whittenberg. “My goal as a filmmaker and composer is to help music come alive visually — to take the listener on a journey that engages the heart as much as the ear.”
The Global Music Awards, held annually, celebrate musical excellence and innovation across all genres. Known for spotlighting both emerging and established artists, the competition is judged by industry experts who evaluate originality, production quality, and emotional impact.
In addition to directing and editing the music video, Whittenberg produced, engineered, arranged, and mixed the song, while also playing guitar on the track.
