Plymouth Township Politician, and County Commissioner, Running for Lt. Governor

Joe Gale (R), who currently serves as a County Commissioner in Montgomery County, announced yesterday that he is running for Lieutenant Governor. See the announcement below:

After the announcement, there were several articles in the local media questioning whether he is old enough to qualify for the office. To hold the office of Lieutenant Governor you have to be 30. Gale, who is currently 28, argues that there isn’t that qualification to run and be elected. He also cited examples of successful candidates waiting to turn of age before being sworn in. He would have to wait two months.

In Philly.com’s article, a local election attorney doesn’t believe those cases are relevant because they were outside of Pennsylvania.
