This morning, Plymouth Township announced that its council will offer a public statement on July 27th at 2:00 p.m. about the proposed data center at 900 Conshohocken Road in Conshohocken (Plymouth Township). The data center is currently within the zoning hearing process, with the second hearing date scheduled for August 6th. The data center is being proposed by an entity associated with developer Brian O’Neill.

The statement will be offered by Council Chair Lynne Viscio (D, District 3), and it will be livestreamed. The announcement makes the point that the council is united behind the coming statement.

From the announcement:

Since the application was first submitted, Council has carefully reviewed the proposal while listening to the concerns expressed by Township residents and following Pennsylvania’s land use laws. Recent developments surrounding this proposal have prompted Council to speak directly to the community about the actions it has taken throughout the review process.

During the livestream, Chair Viscio will explain how Council reviewed the proposal, the steps it has taken to protect the health, safety, and welfare of Township residents, and why recent developments have led Council to make this public statement.

MoreThanTheCurve.com recently asked the council why it had not attempted to pass an 180-day moratorium to address data centers in its zoning code during a period of time when O’Neill had withdrawn an initial application and before submitting another almost five months later. The council was also asked if they could be contacted by Governor Josh Shapiro or a representative from his administration about the application. During a 2025 announcement about Amazon’s investment in the state with several data centers, Shapiro publicly stated he would assist with site selection. Council did not respond to the questions.
