Plymouth Whitemarsh High School’s Colonial Players’ Urinetown recognized by Philadelphia Independent Awards

Plymouth Whitemarsh High School’s Colonial Players recently won four Philadelphia Independence Awards for their spring musical Urinetown. This year, 21 high school theater productions from the region received nominations. The productions were judged by professional artists and theater educators. The nominees were celebrated in an awards ceremony at Temple Performing Arts Center on Monday, May 22nd.

The Colonial Players received 14 nominations and won the following categories:

  • Best Marketing
  • Best Sound
  • Best Small Ensemble
  • Best Ensemble

As a result of their nomination for Best Musical, the cast of Urinetown had the opportunity to perform the song “Run Freedom Run.”

Senior Sean Williams who was nominated for both Featured Actor and Solo Dance said, “Every chance I get to perform is something that I am extremely grateful for. It was such a joy and I had the time of my life.”
