Plymouth Whitemarsh High School’s Kaitlin “Katy” Parris to cheer for American University

Plymouth Whitemarsh High School’s Kaitlin “Katy” Parris has signed to cheer for American University in Washington, DC. She intends to study political science in college.

The senior, who serves as a main base for the high school cheerleading team, was named this year’s Most Valuable Player and has competed in the Universal Cheerleaders Association nationals. At that event, she received a bronze medal. Parris has cheered for more than 10 years, including all four years of high school.

“(My favorite thing about this sport) is growing valuable bonds with my teammates while competing in the sport that I love,” Parris said.

Parris is also a member of the Black Cultural Awareness Club and the chorus. She belongs to the Tri-M Music Honor Society and was named Soprano 1 in the 2022 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association District 11 Choir.
