During the August 5th meeting of Conshohocken’s borough council, the council heard a presentation on the opportunity to purchase a building along Colwell Lane just over the border in Plymouth Township to utilize for a new consolidated public works facility (the building purchase and reasoning will be covered in another article in more detail).

More exciting for the general public is that a dog park could finally find a home in Conshohocken. The Public Works Department currently utilizes land along West 7th Avenue overlooking Sutcliffe Park to store vehicles and equipment. If this acquisition takes place, this land would no longer be needed for public works, opening up the possibility of establishing a dog park at this location. The property is owned by the Borough of Conshohocken and is part of Sutcliffe Park.

For this to happen, the borough will need to purchase the property along Colwell Lane, relocate to the new facility, and then create the dog park. The purchase of the Colwell Lane property will likely be on the agenda for August 19th.

Please note that while the possibility of a dog park was mentioned during this presentation, the final determination on how to use this portion of the park would fall to the borough council.
